Ellen Ruggia began making botanical illustrations in 1995 while working as a research assistant in the herbarium at Sul Ross State University in Alpine, Texas. She has been a member of the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators since 1998.
More recently, Ellen has been working on illustrations of plants native to the Big Bend and Trans-Pecos region of Texas that are desirable for use in landscaping. These illustrations are created using acrylic inks, colored pencils, and gesso on hot press watercolor paper.
Some of these illustrations are now available as limited edition giclée prints. Click the thumbnails below to see full images and information.
