Leucophyllum frutescens (Cenizo, Texas Purple Sage, or Texas Silverleaf) grows in limestone habitats and brushlands throughout central, western, and southwestern Texas. The simple, alternate leaves are covered in branched, white hairs. The showy flowers are 5-lobed and broadly funnelform. Full bloom occurs usually after significant rainfall.
The genus Leucophyllum is in the Scrophulariaceae (Figwort) family .
L. frutescens is the most frequently cultivated species of this genus.
