Penstemon havardii, an herbaceous member of the Scrophulariaceae (Figwort) family, is endemic to the Trans-Pecos mountains of Texas. The flowers (April through October) are borne on terminal spikes or panicles which grow from a persistent base of leaves. This species grows well in gardens and easily re-seeds.
The genus Penstemon is sometimes referred to as Beardtongue.
