Tecoma stans (Yellow Bells, Trumpetflower, or Esperanza) is a deciduous shrub to 1 m high that belongs to the Bignoniaceae (Trumpet-creeper or Catalpa) family. It grows in well-drained, sunny locations throughout the bluffs and canyons of the Trans-Pecos mountains.

Characteristics include opposite, compound leaves, odd-pinnate with lanceolate to linear-lanceolate leaflets and showy, funnelform flowers, 3.5-6 cm long. The fruit is a long, linear capsule which opens on both sides to reveal many flat, winged seeds. The stems often die back to the ground during winter. Blooms may occur April through November.
